Warringah Triathlon Club is celebrating a win for all Northern Beaches cyclists with a decision to swap proposed speed humps at McCarrs Creek Road at Church Point with a cycle friendly option.
After discovering late last week that work was about to commence to install 12 speed humps along the popular cycle route, our committee swung into action - gaining a copy of the plans, enlisting the help of Manly Warringah Cycle Club and jointly lobbying to ensure cyclists using the area would not be impacted by the proposal. With the support of Councillor Sarah Grattan, Northern Beaches Council listened to both parties' concerns and made the sensible decision to only use the flat top speed humps similar to those pictured, a great result for all recreational cyclists.

Too bad the new speed humps further up the road aren't cycle friendly! When my rim eventually cracks I should send the bill to Northern Beaches council. Whose idea is it to place these things at the bottom of the hill? They are dangerous! Does the council think everyone rides MTBs?
