- There is a massive spreadsheet, kept in a fault, in a land far far away, which calculates this result. No captains pick. No bribes. Pure science.
- The same algorithm and principles are used as in prior years, with some modifications.
- People have died trying to reverse engineer or understand these algorithms too quickly.
- A Time Correction Factor of TCF, similar to the way a yachting handicap is calculated, is applied for all athletes, using the median race time.
- Your initial TCF is calculated in the first race you do, the earlier in the season the better, and this includes club champs.
- Your TCF is applied to your second race. Remember it was calculated in your first race.
- There is a sandbagging factor to avoid anyone intentionally going slowly in the early races and speeding up later to try and rort the system. Not gonna work.
- Participation is key. If you miss a race, you get the lowest possible points for that race.
- The good news is however your worst result for the season, is eliminated.
- Duathlons while they might be fun, are not used in the handicapping process.
- Steady improvement throughout the season will help, the key is to be there and do your best. Glory will follow.
Good luck and get out there.
